Cheteshwar Pujara's Journey to 100 Test Matches

Cheteshwar Pujara, the stalwart of Indian Test cricket, has recently completed his 100 Test matches for India, in the ongoing Test series against Australia. Pujara became the 13th Indian player to feature in 100 or more Test matches.

Pujara is one of India's most reliable batsmen. He made his Test debut against Australia at the iconic Adelaide Oval in November 2010 and has since become one of the mainstays in the Indian Test team. Pujara's resilience and doggedness have earned him the nickname 'The Wall' for his ability to bat for long periods and wear down the opposition. His solid performances have been a major factor in India's success in recent years.

Renowned for his technique and temperament at the crease, he has earned his reputation to bat on difficult pitches and in difficult situations with his ability to grind it out with his technique and temperament when batting for long periods.

Pujara has been a consistent performer for India, scoring 7,052 runs in 100 Tests at an average of 44.07. He has scored 19 centuries with his highest score of 206* against England. In the process, he has also become the eighth Indian to reach 7000 Test runs.

Pujara is the best test player

He has played important roles in India's historic overseas Test wins in England and in Australia. In 2018, he scored a brilliant century in the Adelaide Test, paving the way for India’s famous win in the series against Australia. He was at his absolute best against Australia in Border Gavaskar Trophy 2018-19, scoring 521 runs including three hundred and two fifties, in just five Tests. During this series he was more than a wall; he was a fortress that could not be breached by the Aussies.
