In 2018, he scored a brilliant century in the Adelaide Test, paving the way for India’s famous win in the series against Australia. He was at his absolute best against Australia in Border Gavaskar Trophy 2018-19, scoring 521 runs including three hundred and two fifties, in just five Tests. During this series he was more than a wall; he was a fortress that could not be breached by the Aussies.
